On The Record has been winning awards since long before it was called On The Record, and this is our list of wins:

As part of a joint effort between Journalism and RTA, we produced TMU Votes to cover the Ontario Provincial Election in February 2025. It was created by students from JRN314, RTA, and OTR in the Winter semester of 2025. These are the OTR students who earned a 2025 JSchools Canada award for “Student Group Project of the Year.”
Season 7 of the OTR podcast won SILVER in the Best Student Podcast SIGNAL Awards in 2025.

Laviza Syed won the 2025 CUP Photo of the Year for her photograph of protesters in her story: “Toronto Protestors Rally In Solidarity With Lebanon and Palestine“
OTR won the “Best Feel Good Story” in the 2023 Canadian Online Publishing Awards for the photo essay “Snapshots of Significance: What Brought the TMU Community Comfort over the Last Two Years.“
