The tenth positive COVID-19 case this month has been confirmed on campus by Ryerson University’s Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC).

The individual was last on campus on March 26. Before this, a lone case was reported to the JHSC on April 6, and was last on campus on April 1.

“An investigation of the case and an assessment of the possible exposure risk has been conducted by Ryerson’s Environmental Health and Safety team and the affected department’s

management team,” read a Ryerson University statement. “Based on this, the exposure risk to other Ryerson community members has been deemed to be low.”

This comes a couple of days after eight Pitman Hall residents tested positive for COVID-19, prompting Toronto Public Health to declare an active outbreak.

Before this, a suspected outbreak was declared on March 31 and was made aware to the Ryerson community on April 1. Two contract workers on Ryerson’s campus tested positive, with two close contacts identified as potential positive cases.
